UAB's Amy Woodham Named C-USA Pitcher of the Week

For throwing a combined 10.1 scoreless innings at the Blazer Classic, junior Amy Woodham has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The Slocomb, Ala., native appeared in three games total in a 5-1 week for UAB, throwing 10.1 innings and allowing just five hits, no runs and striking out nine batters.

"I thought Amy and our entire team performed well this week," head coach Joe Guthrie said. "Amy does everything on and off the field to the highest standard possible. She cares about the little things. It is no surprise that she is standing out as a result."

Woodham earned back-to-back saves in the circle for the Blazers. She entered during the fifth inning of UAB's game against Southern Illinois and pitched 4.2 scoreless innings on March 13, allowing for a UAB walk-off 1-0 victory in the ninth inning.

In a team-high 40 innings pitched this season, she owns a 2.80 ERA and has struck out 37 batters.

This is the second C-USA Weekly honor of Woodham's career. She was also named Co-Pitcher of the Week on February 17, 2020.

This is also the second time this season the Blazers have earned a C-USA Weekly Honor. Parker Conrad was named the C-USA Pitcher of the Week on March 1.
